About the lecture
What is it like to be over one hundred kilometres from any infrastructure, bombarded by sandstorms and blizzards, alone with two camels, while you seek anwsers about who you are?
For his first book, Rick traveled solo with two camels through rural Mongolia, learning new things about Mongolian culture as a cultural researcher. What happened during this trip even inspired Rick, as life back home was demanding at the same time. Rick would never have guessed the impact Mongolian culture would have on his behavior and way of thinking. Old knowledge and the simple herder lifestyle transformed Rick beyond expectations. Thus, his book about Mongolian culture became a book about reflection and answering life’s questions. It became a mirror on life in the West and the Far East.
